Eighteenth Sunday after Pentecost

Grant us, Lord, not to be anxious about earthly things, but to love things heavenly; and even now, while we are placed among things that are passing away, to hold fast to those that shall endure; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

----

Merciful Lord, hear us as we consider the needs of the

world and your people as we pray:

Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.

We pray for the well-being of the earth; for its resources of

water, air, light, and soil, that they may be tended for the

good of all creatures.

Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.

We pray for your church in all places around the world and

give you thanks that we share one faith and one hope that

begins and ends with you.

Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.

We pray for the National Episcopal Church Leaders. We

pray for our Presiding Bishop, Michael Curry, and our

Presiding Bishop Elect, Sean Rowe. And we pray for Christ Church of Springfield Ohio with their Rector The Rev. Dr. Michelle Boomgaard.

Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.

We pray for this Diocese and especially for the Diocesan

Committee on Investments; the Commission on Finance;

and all who serve the financial ministries of the Diocese.

Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.

We pray for this congregation. May we share one another’s

joys and burdens,

Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.

We pray tor the needs of our nation, for those who live in

states we have never seen, for those who face natural

disasters we have not experienced and who we hope to

serve in their time of need.

Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.

We pray for those desperate for cures, those waiting for a

miracle, those who need diagnosis and comfort and prayer.

Deliver the sick from fear and pain, give sleep to the

restless and comfort to those in need.

We pray for those on our Parish Prayer List

Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.

We pray for the dying, and those who sit at bedsides of

those dying. Bring comfort and deliverance, Lord, for our

eternal rest is always in you.

Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Gracious God, grant that your people may have in them the

same mind that was in Christ Jesus, and guide us into

harmony of relationship through loving-kindness and the

wise use of all that you have given; for you are drawing all

things into communion with you and with each other by the

power of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

----

Closing Prayer

Create in us a new heart and a new vision, O God,

that the gifts of your Spirit may work in us and renew

the face of the earth.

May we be one with you so that our work is yours

and your work is ours.

Lead us to transform our lives to reflect your

glory in Creation; through Jesus Christ our Savior who

is alive with you and the Holy Spirit, one God now and forever. Amen.
